A lot of people hate how social media has affected the creative industry. Yes, it has made usage a minefield, yes it has redacted your work to pixels & yes it has reduced a lot of the budgets. But equally, social media isn’t all bad- it has increased the amount of photography jobs as a whole, it has allowed so many incredible creatives to be discovered & in my opinion been pivotal for diversifying the industry. It’s a ying & yang.
The main tool within this however, Instagram. Our picture platform. Its the first place we share our latest projects, its the main portfolio option for most talent & the dm’s you can get for a last minute job are wild. But that is not all Instagram is good for.
As you know I did a lengthy post on how to find clients which you will see below- but a lot of this was in relation to Linkedin, which you should be using I would recommend. However, after a recent chat with a creative who defined themselves as ‘not Linkedin material’ whatever that means- I thought I would dedicate an entire post on how to use Instagram to find clients, & as a by product- jobs.

Whenever I have time left over on a portfolio review, or I’m on a panel or a hosting a talk at a university, there is a question I can always bet money will show up and that is: how do I find clients?
