Don’t judge a book by its cover- makes no sense. Especially in our industry which thrives off aesthetics & design. The cover in our world, really is the entire book. Front page, the end. And that packaging has to be top top tier if someone is going to take the time to buy it.
How you show your work, much like a cover or a juicy bit of packaging, is integral to getting people to look deeper at what you have to offer. It makes someone take pause, flick through, look back at the front & make a decision. We are in a world of low attentions spans & quick judgements, so how our work is seen needs to align with that. Having spectacular work is one thing, people wanting to look through it is entirely different.
Nowadays compared to the 80’s there are a multitude of ways to get your work seen or present it to a prospective client. The ways listed below advance with your career, as some come with cost whilst others are free. Additionally, some of these ways align with different levels of clientele which I will outline at each stage.
